High‐Resolution Corrosion Fingerprinting of Alloy Libraries via Microdroplet Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic‐liquid microdroplet spectroelectrochemistry enables stable, localized electrochemical measurements over extended timescales. By coupling impedance spectroscopy, wetting analysis, finite‐element simulations, and operando Raman spectroscopy, it disentangles geometrical and electrochemical effects, opening new opportunities for rapid corrosion ...

S-Transform Based Time–Frequency Evaluation of Dynamic Stray Current in Zero-Resistance Converter System

open access: yesEnergies
In DC urban rail transit, stray current causes unneglectable electrochemical corrosion to metallic structures near running rails. In view of the low-frequency and non-stationary distribution of dynamic stray current due to multiple trains in lines, its ...

Stray Current Corrosion of Aluminum Electrolysis System

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
The aluminum smelting process requires large amounts of electricity, and the leakage of current from aluminum cells is through the earth forming stray current. Stray current induce corrosion on metallic pipeline and steel in concrete, leading to severe localized attack. Stray current corrosion in the metallic pipeline is totally similar to the classic;

Integration of OpenCV‐Based Microscopic Adhesive Volume Measurement Into a Pyiron Workflow for Automated Data Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Residual adhesive after electrode loading in adhesive‐assisted resistance spot welding is quantified through a traceable experimental‐to‐digital workflow. Chromatic confocal topography provides calibrated surface‐height data, while OpenCV detects the electrode imprint and integrates adhesive height into comparable volume metrics.

Multi-physics coupled simulation and experimental investigation of alternating stray current corrosion of buried gas pipeline adjacent to rail transit system

open access: yesMaterials & Design
As the gradual emergence of alternating current (AC) electrified rail transit system in urban areas, buried gas pipeline adjacent to the system will be seriously corroded by induced alternating stray current.

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...
