Setup‐Optimized Sequencing in Job Shops: Modeling Workstation Productivity and Lateness Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Setup‐optimized sequencing in job‐shop production creates a trade‐off between productivity improvement and schedule reliability. A WIP‐explicit modeling framework links sequencing‐induced productivity gains and lateness dispersion through the production operating curve.

Streams of Consciousness

open access: yesJournal of Cognitive Neuroscience, 2002
When investigating the neural correlates of consciousness, neuroscientists distinguish between ‘‘conscious state’’ (being awake as opposed to asleep or in a coma), which is regulated by brainstem and thalamic nuclei, and ‘‘conscious representation’’ (awareness of specific phenomenal experience).

Resistance Rapid Heating of Aluminum Coatings in an Extreme High Vacuum–Adequate Atmosphere for Hot Stamping

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Calcium and strontium stable isotopes reveal similar behaviors of essential Ca and nonessential Sr in stream food webs

open access: yesEcosphere, 2022
Recent studies showed the potential of stable isotopes of the macronutrient calcium (δ44/40Ca) and nonessential strontium (δ88/86Sr) as new trophic level indicators in terrestrial vertebrates and marine teleost fishes.

The Magellanic Stream [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1974
A southern sky survey of H I in the velocity range — 340 km s−1 to +380 km s−1 has shown that a long filament of H I extends from the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) region down to the South Galactic Pole and connects with the long H I filament discovered recently by Wannier and Wrixon (1972) and van Kuilenburg (1972). There is also some evidence that the

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Riparian vegetation layers differ three years after mixed severity wildfire in Oregon

open access: yesScientific Reports
Riparian ecosystems are highly diverse and dynamic, but effects of fire on riparian vegetation are poorly understood. In 2020, widespread wildfires impacted forests across the western Oregon Cascades, including riparian areas.
