A Semantically Enabled Service Architecture for Mashups over Streaming and Stored Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Sensing devices are increasingly being deployed to monitor the physical world around us. One class of application for which sensor data is pertinent is environmental decision support systems, e.g. flood emergency response.

Information-Theoretic Data Discarding for Dynamic Trees on Data Streams

open access: yesEntropy, 2013
Ubiquitous automated data collection at an unprecedented scale is making available streaming, real-time information flows in a wide variety of settings, transforming both science and industry.

Pulsed Data Streams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper proposes a new communication primitive for distributed embedded control systems: the pulsed data stream. A pulsed data stream is a time- triggered cyclic unidirectional data stream that is transmitted for a short duration at a defined phase of every cycle of a periodic control system.

Active Corrosion Protection of Sintered AA7075 Aluminum Alloy via Mn Powder Addition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AA7075 containing Mn‐rich particles is fabricated via spark plasma sintering using AA7075 and Mn powders. Corrosion resistance is evaluated through dip‐and‐dry tests using 0.1 M NaCl (pH 6.0), and mass loss decreases with increasing Mn addition. Mn‐rich particles function as a source of Mn ions, and formation of Mn‐accumulation films on Cu‐containing ...

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Online Topology Inference from Streaming Stationary Graph Signals with Partial Connectivity Information

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2020
We develop online graph learning algorithms from streaming network data. Our goal is to track the (possibly) time-varying network topology, and affect memory and computational savings by processing the data on-the-fly as they are acquired.

Algorithm Selection on Data Streams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We explore the possibilities of meta-learning on data streams, in particular algorithm selection. In a first experiment we calculate the characteristics of a small sample of a data stream, and try to predict which classifier performs best on the entire stream. This yields promising results and interesting patterns.

Receptor‐Free Identification of Toxic Gases Enabled by Hygroscopic Aqueous Salt Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Water as a gas sensor coating sounds impossible—until it stops evaporating. Here, hygroscopic salt solutions (LiCl, LiBr, H3PO4) form non‐drying aqueous films on CNT chemiresistors under ambient air. Gases partition into these liquid layers, sometimes transforming into water, and generate salt‐specific resistance fingerprints across a four‐channel ...

Semantic Access to Sensor Observations through Web APIs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Sensor networks are often deployed with the purpose of providing data to large-scale information management and GIS systems, or to collect measurements for specific scientific experiments. The benefits of such use are clear and widely accepted. The reuse

Three Techniques for Enhancing Chaos-Based Joint Compression and Encryption Schemes

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
In this work, three techniques for enhancing various chaos-based joint compression and encryption (JCAE) schemes are proposed. They respectively improved the execution time, compression ratio, and estimation accuracy of three different chaos-based JCAE ...
