Streaming Current and Streaming Potential Induced by Water Flow Through Porous Media

open access: yes, 1966
This study was conducted to investigate analytically and experimentally the relationship between the rate of flow of water through porous material and the streaming current and streaming potential induced by this flow.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Electric potential changes prior to shear fracture in dry and saturated rocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Electric potential changes before shear rupture were measured using Darley Dale sandstone (quartz-rich) and Icelandic basalt (quartz-free) on both dry specimens and in the presence of pore fluid.

Investigation of Streaming Potential in Electrical Double Layers

open access: yes, 2023
An electrical double layer forms when a solid is immersed in a liquid. This happens due to the contact of two conducting phases. EDLs have been studied extensively due to their various applications.

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Electro-Osmotic Behavior of Polymeric Cation-Exchange Membranes in Ethanol-Water Solutions

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
The aim of this work is to apply linear non-equilibrium thermodynamics to study the electrokinetic properties of three cation-exchange membranes of different structures in ethanol-water electrolyte solutions.

Fluid flow induced by oscillating bodies and flows in cyclones [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
In this thesis the following aspects have been investigated: (i) the numerical solutions for unsteady 2-dimensional, incompressible viscous fluid flows induced by a harmonically oscillating cascade, and (ii) the fluid flows in industrial cyclones and ...

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Setup‐Optimized Sequencing in Job Shops: Modeling Workstation Productivity and Lateness Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Setup‐optimized sequencing in job‐shop production creates a trade‐off between productivity improvement and schedule reliability. A WIP‐explicit modeling framework links sequencing‐induced productivity gains and lateness dispersion through the production operating curve.

Surface-Charge Characterization of Nanocomposite Cellulose Acetate/Silver Membranes and BSA Permeation Performance

open access: yesMembranes
Membrane processes are a reality in a wide range of industrial applications, and efforts to continuously enhance their performance are being pursued. The major drawbacks encountered are related to the minimization of polarization concentration, fouling ...
