Ambiguity resolution of place names: detecting event names associated with place and phonetic conflicts in street names [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
© 2014 Chun Keith ChanNatural language is flexible and dynamic, creating uncertainty when communicating location information. This research looks at placename ambiguity from two perspectives; (1) regarding detecting event names associated with place and,

Is There a Market for Organic Milk in Serbia? Insights From Integrated Choice and Latent Variable Model

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Past growth in the global organic market has been concentrated in high‐income countries, while in middle‐income countries such as Serbia the organic market remains nascent and characterized by a sparse assortment of organic products, high retail premia and limited evidence on consumer preferences and their drivers.

Sequencing toponymic change: A quantitative longitudinal analysis of street renaming in Sibiu, Romania.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Recent scholarship in critical toponymy studies has refashioned the understanding of street names from innocent labels to nominal loci of historical memory and vectors of collective identity that are embroiled with power relations.

Evolution of Physical Intelligence Across Scales

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
By following the evolution of physical intelligence across scales, this article shows how intelligence arises from materials, structures, physical interactions, and collectives. It establishes physical intelligence as the evolutionary foundation upon which embodied intelligence is built.

The genesis and functioning of street names in medieval Lviv

open access: yes, 2020
Згідно з «просторовим поворотом», простір у містах потрібно розглядати не лише в контексті соціальних процесів, але також як продукт людської діяльності та уяви. Назви вулиць є невід’ємною частиною уявлення людей про простір в місті.

EMG‐Driven Telemetry and Inference System for Fish: Pose Reconstruction and Flow Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work introduces an electromyography (EMG)‐driven telemetry framework that reconstructs body pose and infers hydrodynamic conditions in freely swimming fish. A custom 16‐channel archival system records intramuscular EMG, enabling deep‐learning models to decode joint kinematics, classify flow regimes, and reveal channel‐efficient sensing strategies.

Applying Computer Algebra Systems in Approximating the Trigonometric Functions

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications, 2018
We propose numerical algorithms which can be integrated with modern computer algebra systems in a way that is easily implemented to approximate the sine and cosine functions with an arbitrary accuracy.

System Identification of Robotic Fish Swimming Reveals Roles of Reactive and Resistive Fluid Force in Two Distinct Swimming Gaits

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
System identification and particle image velocimetry reveal how a modular robotic fish changes thrust physics across gaits. A traveling‐wave, fish‐like motion draws thrust from resistive drag, while a resonant standing‐wave motion is driven by reactive pressure.
