On the strength of nonstandard analysis

The Journal of Symbolic Logic, 1986
It is often asserted in the literature that any theorem which can be proved using nonstandard analysis can also be proved without it. The purpose of this paper is to show that this assertion is wrong, and in fact there are theorems which can be proved with nonstandard analysis but cannot be proved without it.

Password Strength: An Empirical Analysis

2010 Proceedings IEEE INFOCOM, 2010
It is a well known fact that user-chosen passwords are somewhat predictable: by using tools such as dictionaries or probabilistic models, attackers and password recovery tools can drastically reduce the number of attempts needed to guess a password. Quite surprisingly, however, existing literature does not provide a satisfying answer to the following ...

Analysis of Shear Strength of Wood

Key Engineering Materials, 2011
This paper presents the analysis of different types of shear strength of wood which can differ very much due to its structure and different orientations of applied load. These combinations of wood structure and load orientations lead to different modes of fracture. The main aim of the paper is to find a relation among all types of shear strength of the

Automated collection strength analysis

Proceedings of the 7th ACM/IEEE-CS joint conference on Digital libraries, 2007
The strengths within six library collections were automatically determined through automated enrichment and analysis of bibliographic level metadata records, with a view towards efficient resource sharing and collaborative collection management. This involved very large scale deduplicantion, enrichment and automatic reclassification of records using ...

Analysis of Tear Strength

Textile Research Journal, 1947
An analysis has been made of the factors involved in the A.S.T.M. Trapezoid Tear-Strength Test. The tear strength of a fabric measured by this test is dependent mainly on the extensibility of the threads, the breaking strength of the threads, the effective specimen length, and the number of threads per inch of fabric.

Factor Analysis of Strength Variables

Research Quarterly. American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation, 1967
Abstract The purpose of this study was to test a hypothesized factor structure for a number of test variables which have been used to assess strength. An analysis indicated that 11 factors might be present in this domain, but that only 8 of these could be readily represented by test variables. Data were collected on college women for 29 variables.

An Analysis of Minutiae Matching Strength

2001
In recent years there has been exponential growth in the use of biometrics for user authentication applications because biometrics-based authentication offers several advantages over knowledge and possession-based methods such as password/PIN-based systems.

An experimental analysis of the strength of the taper joint

Technology and Health Care, 2016
BACKGROUND: The strength of the taper joint plays a vital role in orthopedics which takes the full load of our body. Till date various techniques has been used for the stem manufacturing and an alternative to all those has been presented in the article.

A discretizing approach for stress/strength analysis

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1996
This paper implements and evaluates a discretizing approach for estimating the reliability of systems for which complex functions define strength or stress and where the derivation of reliability exceed analytic techniques. The discretizing approach predicts system reliability with reasonably high accuracy.

Analysis of Bone-Composite Interfacial Strengths

Biomaterials, Medical Devices, and Artificial Organs, 1981
The strength characteristics of the interface between bone and a bone/porous metal composite were analyzed. The metal was 316L stainless steel. The average tensile strength of bone spicules ingrown to the porous metal was 46.5 MPa. This compares to a control bone sample strength of 89.7 MPa.
