Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Strain effects on borophene: ideal strength, negative Possion’s ratio and phonon instability

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
Very recently, two-dimensional (2D) boron sheets (borophene) with rectangular structures were grown successfully on single crystal Ag(111) substrates (Mannix et al 2015 Science http://dx.doi.org/10.1126/science.aad1080 350 http://dx.doi.org/10.1126 ...

Ab Initio Calculations of the Walls Shear Strength of Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yes, 2009
The dependence of the energy of interwall interaction in double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNT) on the relative position of walls has been calculated using the density functional method.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Semiclassical calculation of oscillator-strengths

open access: yesJournal de Physique, 1989
Because they play a fundamental role in the calculation of bound electron stopping-powers, photon mean free paths and electron impact-excitation cross-sections, there is a need for a convenient method to calculate oscillator strengths for highly charged ions.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Revised B(E3) transition rate and structure of the 3− level in 96Zr

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
The B(E3) transition strength from the 1897-keV, 3− level in 96Zr has been reevaluated from six high-statistics, independent data sets. The measured value of 42(3) W.u. is significantly lower than that adopted in recent compilations.

Low energy monopole Modes of a Trapped atomic Fermi Gas

open access: yes, 2002
We consider the low energy collective monopole modes of a trapped weakly interacting atomic Fermi gas in the collisionless regime. The spectrum is calculated for varying coupling strength and chemical potential.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
