The extent and nature of the strength-differential effect in steels

Metallurgical Transactions, 1972
Tensile and compressive stress-strain curves were obtained for several types of microstructures in a variety of steels. The strength-differential effect, previously found in martensitic structures, was present in lower, intermediate, and upper bainite and in Widmanstatten ferritepearlite as well as in ultrafine-grained martensite.

The strength-based mirror effect in subjective strength ratings: The evidence for differentiation can be produced without differentiation

Memory & Cognition, 2012
Criss (Cognitive Psychology 59:297-319, 2009) reported that subjective ratings of memory strength showed a mirror effect pattern in which strengthening the studied words increased ratings for targets and decreased ratings for lures. She interpreted the effect on lure items as evidence for differentiation, a process whereby lures produce a poorer match ...

Evaluating Terminator Strength Based on Differentiating Effects on Transcription and Translation

ChemBioChem, 2020
AbstractTranscription terminators play a role in terminating the progress of gene transcription, and are thus essential elements in the gene circuit. Terminators have two main functions: terminating gene transcription and improving the stability of gene transcripts during translation.

The Differential Effect of Corticosteroids on Wound Disruption Strength in Mice

Archives of Surgery, 1990
The detrimental role of corticosteroids on wound healing is well recognized. This study examined the effect of equipotent anti-inflammatory doses of dexamethasone sodium phosphate, methylprednisolone sodium succinate, or hydrocortisone sodium succinate on wound healing in mice.

Modeling the differential effect of brand strength on the sales effect of advertising

Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, 2021
Although marketing managers consider consumer mind-set regarding brand strength a key performance measure of advertising on the premise that it mediates the effect on sales, they rarely consider it...

Strength differential effect in four commercial steels

Journal of Materials Science, 2000
The difference between compressive and tensile flow stress of a material at a given strain termed as strength differential (S-D) effect, has been evaluated in case of four commercial steels via a series of heat treated conditions. The results have unequivocally established that the magnitude of S-D was maximum in the as quenched condition and tempering
