Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Effect of Magnetic Field Strength on Solar Differential Rotation and Meridional Circulation [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2018
AbstractWe studied the solar surface flows (differential rotation and meridional circulation) using a magnetic element feature tracking technique by which the surface velocity is obtained using magnetic field data. We used the line-of-sight magnetograms obtained by the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager on board theSolar Dynamics Observatoryfrom 2010 May

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Influence of stone cutting waste and ground waste clay brick on the hydration and packing density of cement pastes

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais
The present work aims to study the replacement of Portland cement (PC) by stone cutting waste (SW) and ground waste clay brick (BW) in binary and ternary pastes. Thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis tests were carried out at various ages in

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Mechanical, Morphological, and Thermal Properties of Nutshell and Microcrystalline Cellulose Filled High-Density Polyethylene Composites

open access: yesBioResources, 2016
Effects of nutshell fiber loadings of 30 wt.% and MCC loadings up to 15 wt.% on some properties of high-density polyethylene composites (HDPE) were investigated. The composites were manufactured by a single screw extruder and injection molding.

Electron's anomalous magnetic moment effects on electron-hydrogen elastic collisions in the presence of a circularly polarized laser field

open access: yes, 2010
The effect of the electron's anomalous magnetic moment on the relativistic electronic dressing for the process of electron-hydrogen atom elastic collisions is investigated.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Research on the timing of polymer flooding oil and water well fracturing [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Fracturing technology is the main measure to increase production and injection in oilfield production. With the gradual expansion of the scale of polymer flooding, the proportion of fractured Wells also increases year by year.
