Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Joint-dependence of strength and power in children and adults
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Master of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. The mechanisms underlying age-related differences in maximum power production during multi-joint exercises are not fully understood.

Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Effects of whey isolate, creatine and resistance training on muscle hypertrophy
PURPOSE: Studies that have attributed gains in lean body mass to dietary supplementation during RE training have not reported these changes alongside adaptations at the cellular and sub-cellular levels. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine

Strength, balance, and range of motion as modifiers of the effect of external load-bearing on functional movement behaviors in the military recruitment population [PDF]
Clinical movement screens have become increasingly popular in strength and conditioning programs designed for the tactical athlete. Whereas conventionally administered movement screens are largely not sensitive to behaviors which impact soldier-relevant ...

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...
