The stability of rock masses in karst regions is critically influenced by the coexistence of karst caves and joints. This study investigates the mechanical behavior, energy evolution, and failure modes of large-scale (1 m3) rock-like specimens containing

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Behavior of eco-friendly concrete reinforced with hybrid recycled fibers
Recycling waste materials is a crucial strategy to reduce landfill disposal. The emission of greenhouse gases like methane and carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by landfills is well-known to be harmful to both people and the environment.

The effect of moisture conditioning on the mechanical and physical properties of long glass fibre reinforced nylon 66 materials [PDF]
The effect of moisture conditioning on the mechanical and physical properties of ICI's 'Verton' range of long glass fibre reinforced Nylon 66 materials have been investigated using injection moulded test specimens.

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

The influence of oxidative-thermal degradation of polypropylene on measured interface strength of glass fibre-polypropylene [PDF]
It was previously found that thermal-oxidative degradation of the polypropylene could significantly affect the measured interfacial strength of glass fibre reinforced polypropylene (GF-PP) micro-composite.

The influence of fibre length, diameter and concentration on the strength and strain to failure of glass fibre-reinforced polyamide 6,6 [PDF]
Results of an investigation of the mechanical performance of injection moulded long glass fibre-reinforced polyamide 6,6 composites are presented. The glass fibre content in these composites was varied over the range 10-50% by weight using fibres with ...

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.
