The adhesion and strength properties of ice
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1958Abstract This paper describes a study of the adhesion of ice to various solids. If water is frozen on to a clean metal surface the interface is stonger than the ice and fracture occurs within the ice itself. The detailed behaviour depends on the stresses developed near the interface. If tensile stresses are high the failure is brittle

Effects of sex and age on strength–duration properties
Clinical Neurophysiology, 2006To evaluate the possible effects of sex and age on strength-duration time constant (SDTC).The SDTC of 126 healthy volunteers was measured following stimulation of right median nerve at the wrist. Variations in values were evaluated according to sex and age.The SDTC was 438.6+/-114.5 micros in women and 396.2+/-90.3 in men (P=.023).

Strength Properties of Chinese Elm
Journal of Forestry, 1942Abstract Some 20 million Chinese elms have been planted by the Prairie States Forestry Project. It is out-numbered only by green ash and cottonwood. Prudence requires that we know something about the physical and mechanical properties of this widely planted species when it reaches maturity.

Measuring intellectual property 'strength'
2022In today’s economy, innovation, creativity and branding have become a key issue for many business activities, with firms continuously investing in intangible capital to stay ahead of their competitors. To encourage business entities and individuals to develop new innovations that will benefit society as a whole, national legislatures grant creators the

Properties of High-Strength Concrete
Cement, Concrete, and Aggregates, 1986Abstract This paper presents data related to the development of high-strength concrete with special emphasis on the development of high early strength. Both these objectives were achieved by using an ultrafine portland cement with a specific surface of about 750 m2/kg or a high early strength portland cement with about 75% tricalcium ...

Modeling Identity-Related Properties and Their Privacy Strength
2011In the last years several attempts to define identity-related properties such as identifiability, pseudonymity and anonymity have been made to analyze the privacy offered by information systems and protocols. However, these definitions are generally incomparable, making it difficult to generalize the results of their analysis. In this paper, we propose

Calculation of Strength and Other Properties
1986A necessary condition for quality control, as well as for the correct calculation of the specifications of gas-filled materials (including polymeric foams), is a rigorous quantitative evaluation of the apparent density distribution over the bulk.
