Tungsten carbide coating prepared by ultrasonic shot peening to improve the wear properties of magnesium alloys

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
To improve the wear properties of magnesium alloys, a novel technique for preparing coatings using ultrasonic shot peening was developed, and tungsten carbide (WC) coatings were prepared for the first time on the magnesium alloys. The surface morphology,

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Evaluation Capacity Building: Funder Initiatives to Strengthen Grantee Evaluation Capacity and Practice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Innovation Network has a wealth of experience as an evaluation capacity builder. One way we often provide ECB services is to a group of grantees. Over the years we have provided funder-sponsored ECB services to a number of grantee cohorts.

New data strengthen the connection between Short Range Correlations and the EMC effect

open access: yes, 2012
Recently published measurements of the two nucleon short range correlation ($NN$-SRC) scaling factors, $a_2(A/d)$, strengthen the previously observed correlation between the magnitude of the EMC effect measured in electron deep inelastic scattering at $0.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...
