Peroxidase reaction as a parameter for discrimination of Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus.

Caries research, 2001
425 strains of mutans streptococci and 12 reference strains were investigated by membrane fatty acid spectra (MFAS) and peroxidase reaction (PR) after aerobic and anaerobic incubation. 423 strains were identified as Streptococcus mutans. The remaining 2 strains were identified as Streptococcus sobrinus.

STREPTOCOCCUS SOBRINUS VE DİŞ ÇÜRÜĞÜ ÜZERİNDEKİ ROLÜ THE ROLE OF STREPTOCOCCUS SOBRINUS ON DENTAL CARIES

2012

Therapeutic Vaccine against Streptococcus sobrinus -induced Caries

Journal of Dental Research, 2004
Streptococcus sobrinus produces a virulence-associated immunomodulatory protein (VIP) which suppresses the host-specific immune response and induces the early production of IL-10. In this study, we evaluated the effects of therapeutic immunization with this VIP on the incidence of caries in S. sobrinus-infected rats.

Stabilization of the glucan-binding lectin of Streptococcus sobrinus by specific ligand

Archives of Oral Biology, 1998
Cell suspensions of Streptococcus sobrinus can be aggregated by high molecular-weight alpha-1,6 glucans. The aggregation depends on the fidelity of a cell wall-bound, glucan-binding lectin (GBL). It is thought that the lectin may play a part in the sucrose-dependent accretion of streptococci in dental plaques. Results showed that the anionic detergent,

Susceptibility of Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus to cell wall inhibitors and development of a novel selective medium for S. sobrinus.

Caries research, 2002
Representative strains of Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus showed differences in susceptibility to members of the monobactam group of beta-lactam antibiotics: S. sobrinus was less sensitive than S. mutans. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of aztreonam (AZT) and carumonam, both of which belong to this group, were 2,000 microg/ml for ...

[Demonstration of Streptococcus sobrinus in human oral cavity].

Oral-prophylaxe, 1990
From 133 saliva samples of humans we isolated 32 strains (24%) of Streptococcus sobrinus on an BYCSB selective medium. The very hard colonies of S. sobrinus on this medium were characterized by a distinct chalky white halo of water insoluble glucan ("glucan-halo") produced in large amounts from the sucrose by extracellular glucosyltransferase which has

Screening of antiadherent activity on Streptococcus sobrinus culture.

Acta odontologica latinoamericana : AOL, 2002
The mutans group of streptococci is considered to play a key role in the etiology of dental caries. We have evaluated the ability of different substances to prevent dental plaque formation without affecting Streptococcus sobrinus viability. Viable organisms were detected as CFU/mL in agar plates and bacterial adherence was assessed by dry weight.

[MGB probes detect Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus in real time].

Hua xi kou qiang yi xue za zhi = Huaxi kouqiang yixue zazhi = West China journal of stomatology, 2015
To detect and distinguish Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) and Streptococcus sobrinus (S. sobrinus) quickly in epidemiology and investigate the distribution of S. mutans in the oral of children with rampant caries.Designed minor groove binder (MGB) probes according to the gtf gene of S. mutans and S. sobrinus.
