Effect of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies on surface properties of Streptococcus sobrinus [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1995
In this study, the effect of antibody adsorption on physicochemical properties of Streptococcus sobrinus was studied. Bacteria were preincubated with polyclonal antibodies or with OMVU10, a monoclonal antibody (MAb) reactive with S. sobrinus. The zeta potentials and the hydrophobicity as determined by microbial adhesion to hydrocarbons were measured in

Impact of Clear Aligners on the Oral Microbiome: A Systematic Review of Current Evidence

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Objectives Oral malocclusion affects a large portion of the population, impacting both function and aesthetics. Recent advances in orthodontics offer a variety of treatment options, including traditional fixed appliances (FA) and, more recently, clear aligners (CA).

Onosma armenum Extract Loaded Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles for the Prevention of Biofilm‐Associated Infections

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
Bioactive mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNPs) loaded with O. armenum extract were developed to evaluate their antibiofilm activity against biofilm‐forming Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The phytochemical content of the extract was analyzed via liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry.

Four gbpC Gene Homologues in Streptococcus sobrinus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Oral Biosciences, 2007
We previously identified the glucan-binding protein C gene, gbpC, solely involved in dextran-dependent aggregation (ddag) of Streptococcus mutans. Recently, we identified two gbpC gene homologues, gbpC and dbl, in Streptococcus sobrinus, and suggested that the dbl gene was very likely responsible for ddag of this species.

Rhizobacteria Exopolysaccharide: A Boon in Reclaiming Soil Fertility, Augmenting Plant Growth and Plant Stress Resilience

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 2, April 2026.
Microbial exopolysaccharides (EPS) enhance plant stress tolerance and soil health by improving water retention, nutrient cycling, and resilience to salinity and heavy metals, offering a biodegradable and eco‐friendly alternative to synthetic polymers for sustainable agriculture. ABSTRACT Microbial exopolysaccharides (EPSs) serve multiple industrial and

Use of the oral microbiota as screening test to identify children at risk for caries development. A systematic review of longitudinal studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, Volume 134, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract This study investigated trends in oral microbiota composition (index test) that could indicate potential candidates to identify children at risk for dental caries development compared with visual/tactile examination (reference test). MEDLINE/PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, Lilacs, SciELO, and Google Scholar databases were searched up ...

Frequency, biofilm formation and acid susceptibility of streptococcus mutans and streptococcus sobrinus in saliva of preschool children with different levels of caries activity

open access: yesDental Research Journal, 2013
Background: One of the causative factors in development of dental caries is microorganisms. Two species of Mutans streptococci including Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus are associated with dental caries in human beings.

Microbiota and clinical outcomes of implant‐supported full‐mandible dentures on patients with a history of periodontitis: A 5‐year prospective cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, Volume 35, Issue 4, Page 478-487, April 2026.
Abstract Purpose To characterize the microbiota of implant‐supported full‐mandible dentures and its correlation to clinical outcomes for up to 5 years after implant loading in patients with a history of periodontal disease. Materials and Methods Twelve individuals with a history of periodontitis (Stage IV and Grade B) received five immediate implants ...
