Herbidospora gen. nov., a New Genus of the Family Streptosporangiaceae Goodfellow et al. 1990 [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic Bacteriology, 1993
Eight actinomycete strains originally isolated from soil and plant samples were studied to determine their taxonomic status. All isolates produced branching substrate mycelia, but no distinct aerial hyphae. Relatively short chains of nonmotile spores (10 to 30 spores per chain) were borne on the tips of sporophores arising directly from the agar ...

Undescribed Metabolites from an Actinobacteria Acrocarpospora punica and Their Anti-Inflammatory Activity

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
In an effort to explore bioactive anti-inflammatory compounds from natural Actinobacteria resources from all over Taiwan and various ecological environments, an active strain of Acrocarpospora punica was collected at Taitung County in Taiwan, prepared ...

Microplastic polymer properties as deterministic factors driving terrestrial plastisphere microbiome assembly and succession in the field

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 25, Issue 12, Page 2681-2697, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Environmental microplastic (MP) is ubiquitous in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems providing artificial habitats for microbes. Mechanisms of MP colonization, MP polymer impacts, and effects on soil microbiomes are largely unknown in terrestrial systems.

Ciprofloxacin Causes the Greatest Bacterial Community Variation in Swine Manure Composting

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2021
In this study, the influence of ciprofloxacin, chlorotetracycline, lincomycin, and sulfamethoxazole on the composition of the bacterial community structure was studied during aerobic composting with swine manure.

Comparison of Actinobacteria communities from human‐impacted and pristine karst caves

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 11, Issue 2, April 2022., 2022
hsp65 Marker as a complement to 16S rRNA gene in Actinobacteria community detection with the metabarcoding approach. Some Actinobacteria species were detected for the first time in caves.Taxa related to rare opportunistic pathogens detected in anthropized caves. Streptomyces were detected in marked areas of Lascaux caves.

Phylogenomic revision of the family Streptosporangiaceae, reclassification of Desertactinospora gelatinilytica as Spongiactinospora gelatinilytica comb. nov. and a taxonomic home for the genus Sinosporangium in the family Streptosporangiaceae

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2020
In recent years, the results of genome-based phylogenetic analyses have contributed to microbial systematics by increasing the availability of sequenced microbial genomes. Therefore, phylogenomic analysis within large taxa in the phylum Actinobacteria has appeared ...

Spongiactinospora rosea gen. nov., sp. nov., a new member of the family Streptosporangiaceae

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2019
A novel aerobic, spore-forming, marine actinomycete, designated strain LHW63015T, was isolated from a Craniella marine sponge collected in the South China Sea. The strain formed extensively branched substrate and aerial mycelia which carried long and crooked spore chains composed of ridged spores and spherical pseudosporangia.

Nonomuraea monospora sp. nov., an actinomycete isolated from cave soil in Thailand, and emended description of the genus Nonomuraea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A novel actinomycete, designated strain PT708T, was isolated from cave soil collected in Pha Tup Cave Forest Park, Nan province, Thailand. It produced compounds with antimicrobial and anticancer activities.

Actinobacteria as Promising Candidate for Polylactic Acid Type Bioplastic Degradation

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Polylactic acid (PLA) is one of the most commercially available and exploited bioplastics worldwide. It is an important renewable polymer for the replacement of petroleum-based plastic materials.
