Stress-Strain Behavior of Sand

The paper presents results of laboratory static and cyclic loading tests on Ottawa Sand. A variety of stress paths was used. The results are analyzed by elastic-plastic-work hardening theory. It is shown that the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion, combined with an expanding elliptical cap can satisfactorily represent material behavior.
