Rhythmic constraints on stress timing in English
Journal of Phonetics, 1998Abstract Rhythm in speech is interpreted as the hierarchical organization of temporally coordinated prosodic units. This is a departure from conventional phonetic approaches which have focused on isochrony. Speech cycling, a novel experimental vehicle for investigating rhythmic constraints, is introduced.

A model of the stress time dependence of SILC
1999 IEEE International Reliability Physics Symposium Proceedings. 37th Annual (Cat. No.99CH36296), 2003A number of groups have reported that the stress-induced leakage current (SILC) follows a power law dependence on the stress time. In this study, we observed that the power-law behaviour is only an approximation of the fast rising part of a more complex behaviour. SILC rises during the initial stress stage and saturates after a long stress time.
