Application of layout optimization technique to large-scale frame structures considering cross-sectional areas of frame members

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
To design economical frame structures, it is necessary to determine the optimum frame layout and optimum cross-sectional area of each frame member. Although previous studies have proposed a variety of optimization methods, they can be applicable to small-

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

On the Behavior of Bauxite Tailings under a Wide Range of Stresses

open access: yesMining
Despite its vital importance to the contemporary economy, some drawbacks are mainly associated with waste derived from mining activity. This waste consists of tailings that are hydraulically disposed of in large impoundments, the tailings dams.

Modular Rotor Single Phase Field Excited Flux Switching Machine with Non-Overlapped Windings

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
This paper aims to propose and compare three new structures of single-phase field excited flux switching machine for pedestal fan application. Conventional six-slot/three-pole salient rotor design has better performance in terms of torque, whilst also ...

A study on task difficulty and acceleration stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The results of two experiments which relate to task difficulty and the effects of environmental stress on tracking performance are discussed and compared to subjective evaluations.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Dynamic Stress Analysis with Different boundry Conditions by ISO-Surface behaviour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Any CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) software the first result will be in contour manner which comes with the colour scale (Legend). But that will only give rough scenario about what is happening inside the layers in object when force is applied.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Analysis of silicon stress/strain relationships [PDF]

open access: yes
In the study of stress-strain relationships in silicon ribbon, numerous solutions were calculated for stresses, strain rates, and dislocation densities through the use of the Sumino model. It was concluded that many cases of failure of computer solutions

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.
