Practical Aspects of Finite Element Method Applications in Dentistry

open access: yesBalkan Journal of Dental Medicine, 2017
The use of numerical methods, such as finite element method (FEM), has been widely adopted in solving structural problems with complex geometry under external loads when analytical solutions are unachievable.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

The Effects of Physical Activity on Stress-induced Cardiac Fibrosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose: This study examined whether routine physical activity limits stress-induced tissue remodeling processes that lead to cardiac fibrosis. The study also explored whether the cardiac urocortin 2/corticotropin releasing factor receptor 2β pathway was

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Modeling of Interaction between Sole of Ankle-Foot Orthosis, Soft Tissue, Bones, Cartilage and Tendons in Steppage Gait Disorder through FEM Method for Tension Reduction in Patient Foot

open access: yesطب جانباز, 2012
Introduction: In this study, a three dimensional finite element model of human walking with ankle foot orthosis has been made in accordance with the kinematics data of neuropathic patients with drop foot in order to optimize the role of orthosis through ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

STABILITY EVALUATION OF SMALL CONCRETE GRAVITY DAMS

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2017
The aim of this work is to ensure the structural stability of small concrete gravity dams by selecting the economic practical section that reduces the material’s costs with the least acceptable factors of safety.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
