Network-based approaches to examining stress in the adolescent brain
Exposure to stress, particularly in periods of rapid brain maturation such as adolescence, can profoundly influence developmental processes that undergird the organization of structural and functional brain networks and that may mediate the association ...

Temperature Robust PCA Based Stress Monitoring Approach [PDF]
In this paper, a guided wave temperature robust PCA-based stress monitoring methodology is proposed. It is based on the analysis of the longitudinal guided wave propagating along the path under stress. Slight changes in the wave are detected by means of PCA via statistical T2 and Q indices.

An Ontology-Based Approach for Bank Stress Testing [PDF]
The 2008 banking crisis has demonstrated that there is the lack of effective methods for modeling and analyzing “exceptional but plausible” risk scenarios in bank stress testing. However, existing bank stress testing practices mainly focus on modeling probability-based risk factors and events in a “static snapshot” of the banking systems, but largely ...

“Overloaded!” — A Model-Based Approach to Database Stress Testing [PDF]
As a new era of "Big Data" comes, contemporary database management systems DBMS introduced new functions to satisfy new requirements for big volume and velocity applications. Although the development agenda goes at full pace, the current testing agenda does not keep up, especially to validate non-functional requirements, such as: performance and ...

A re-assessment of elastic follow-up in high temperature piping [PDF]
The problem of elastic follow‐up in high temperature piping has a long (and interesting) history. Until a paper by Robinson1 in 1955 it was assumed that since the piping was ‘deformation controlled’, the strain would remain broadly constant with the ...

Soil Liquefaction Assessment Using Soft Computing Approaches Based on Capacity Energy Concept
Soil liquefaction is one of the most complicated phenomena to assess in geotechnical earthquake engineering. The conventional procedures developed to determine the liquefaction potential of sandy soil deposits can be categorized into three main groups ...
