Stress-stress correlations in two-dimensional amorphous and crystalline solids [PDF]
Stress-stress correlations in crystalline solids with long-range order can be straightforwardly derived using elasticity theory. In contrast, the `emergent elasticity' of amorphous solids, rigid materials characterized by an underlying disordered structure, defies direct explanation within traditional theoretical frameworks.

This study defines the structure, mechanics, and mechanobiology of the fibrocartilage pericellular matrix (PCM) using the murine meniscus, showing how collagen V deficiency alters PCM properties and disrupts cell mechanosensitive signaling. Findings emphasize the critical role of PCM in fibrocartilage mechanobiology and suggest targeting it can enhance

Overview of the regulation of intrinsic and extrinsic signals during neurodevelopment. Intrinsic genetic signals from NSCs, in conjunction with cues from microglia and blood vessels, collaboratively regulate the proliferation of NSCs, their fate determination, synaptogenesis, synaptic pruning, neuronal survival, and death, as well as communication ...

The study reveals that glutaminolysis in macrophages is inhibited under type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) conditions, which impedes fracture healing by reducing bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) production through increased cytosine methylation on the promoter.

Effects of Buckling on Stress and Strain in Thin Randomly Disordered Tension-Loaded Sheets [PDF]
We study how crack buckling affects stress and strain in a thin sheet with random disorder. The sheet is modeled as an elastic lattice of beams where each of the beams have individual thresholds for breaking. A statistical distribution with an exponential tail towards either weak or strong beams is used to generate the thresholds and the magnitude of ...
