Evolution of Stress Echocardiography

Interest in stress echocardiography began with M-mode recordings of the left ventricle. Kraunz and Kennedyz0 looked at left ventricular wall motion at rest and with exercise in 1970. This study involved normally contracting chambers. Shortly thereafter investigators began noticing that abnormal wall motion could be detected with M-mode echocardiography.
