Effect of hysteresis, infiltration and tensile stress on the strength of an unsaturated soil

open access: yes, 1997
Rain-induced landslides normally involve water infiltration into unsaturated soils. Unsaturated soils have high cohesion which implies the presence of tensile stress in the soils.

Low-temperature magnetic properties of magnetite

open access: yes, 2000
Although several studies have recommended removal of secondary components of magnetic remanence by zero-field cycling from room temperature to a temperature much lower than the low temperature transition for magnetite (about 120 K), the method has not ...

Study of Mechanical Property of Rock under Uniaxial Cyclic Loading and Unloading

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
Through studying the mechanics, energy, and deformation features of rock under uniaxial cyclic loading and unloading, the findings are as follows: (1) under cyclic loading and unloading, the curve of stress and strain for loading and unloading in every ...

MXene Wrapped Magnetic Mesocrystals for Durable Redox Catalytic Cancer Therapy and Responsive MRI

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conformal wrapping of ultrathin Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets on Fe3O4 mesocrystals creates topology‐stabilized Schottky junctions that direct photoinduced electron transfer under NIR irradiation. The unique architecture sustains Fenton catalysis, promotes continuous hydroxyl radical production, and provides photo‐responsive MRI contrast.

Suppression of hysteresis in ultrathin tellurium transistors

open access: yesnpj 2D Materials and Applications
Tellurium (Te) is a promising p-type semiconductor but suffers from pronounced electrical hysteresis that limits device stability. The origin of hysteresis in Te field-effect transistors is investigated, and effective suppression strategies are ...

OCV Hysteresis in Li-Ion Batteries including Two-Phase Transition Materials

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemistry, 2011
The relation between batteries' state of charge (SOC) and open-circuit voltage (OCV) is a specific feature of electrochemical energy storage devices. Especially NiMH batteries are well known to exhibit OCV hysteresis, and also several kinds of lithium ...

Designing Stable Periodic Magnetization Textures by Tailoring Anisotropies and Applying Geometrical Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores the possibility to design stable periodic magnetization textures by transforming a 2D film into a rolled‐up 3D architecture and back. In case of an isotropic exchange‐biased layer architecture, the magnetization encoded in the 3D state evolves into a spin‐spiral pattern with controlled periodicity after unrolling.

Conformal Metallosaccharide Hybrid Films for Protecting Wood Surfaces From Environmental Damage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ti‐ribose hybrid films fabricated by molecular layer deposition form a conformal and uniform coating on wood surfaces, which provides water repellence, dimensional stability, and resistance to acidic and alkaline environments, while preserving the natural appearance.

Induced magnetic anisotropy, stress and hysteresis in FeCoV/TiNx multilayers

open access: yes, 1999
FeCoV/TiNx supermirrors that are composed of multilayers with graded thickness are used for the polarization of cold neutrons. In this paper, the investigations on the thickness dependence of the magnetic properties of FeCoV/Ti-x multilayers prepared by ...
