Stress measurements of fibers and preforms [PDF]
The authors point out the formation mechanism of axial stress, describes the method and the apparatus used for measurements, and presents the results obtained during a study of loss reduction on trapezoidal core 1.55- mu m dispersion-shifted fibers manufactured by the MCVD technique.

Eigenstrain modelling of residual stress generated by arrays of Laser Shock Peeing shots and determination of the complete stress field using limited strain measurements [PDF]
This paper presents a hybrid explicit finite element (FE) /eigenstrain model for predicting the residual stress generated by arrays of adjacent/overlapping laser shock peening (LSP) shots where the use of a completely explicit FE analysis may be ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Towards good practice guidelines for the contour method of residual stress measurement
Accurate measurement of residual stress in metallic components using the contour method relies on the achievement of a good quality cut, on the appropriate measurement of the deformed cut surface and on the robust analysis of the measured data.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Wireless Sensors System for Stress Detection by Means of ECG and EDA Acquisition
This paper describes the design of a two channels electrodermal activity (EDA) sensor and two channels electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor. The EDA sensors acquire data on the hands and transmit them to the ECG sensor with wireless WiFi communication for ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Acoustoelasticity provides the physical sensing principle for ultrasonic stress measurement. However, most existing formulations are restricted to isotropic media, simple stress conditions, and Cartesian coordinate systems, which limits their ...

Dual measurement mode rotational viscometer [PDF]
A novel dual method concept to widen the viscosity measurement range of magnetic actuation and sensing based viscometer is presented. A phase slipping detection is used for high viscosities, while fluids with low viscosities are studied by applying a ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
