Crustal stress regime in Fennoscandia from focal mechanisms
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1992An extensive data set of earthquake focal mechanisms is now available for all of northern Europe and especially for Fennoscandia. These mechanisms are considered to provide representative coverage of the stress field. The maximum horizontal compressional stress orientations are internally very consistent over the area of northern Europe. The dominating

The stress regime associated with continental break-up
Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 1992Abstract Extensional syn-rift structures at passive margins indicate that continental break-up occurs in response to horizontal deviatoric tension in the continental lithosphere. An abrupt change in the state of stress occurs at the onset of the post-rift (break-up) unconformity when the large tension ceases.

Geomechanical, modelling of the stress regime variations in basin
Proceedings, 1996The studies of present-day in-situ stresses in sedimentary basins, using well log and specific methods, indicate that, in general, a good correlation exists for the orientation of principal horizontal stresses (Bell and Babcock 1986, Rebai et al. 1992).

The Influence of Stress Regimes on Hydrocarbon Leakage
2005Abstract Hydrocarbon leakage through faults and fractures commonly limits in-place hydrocarbon reserves. Faulting and fracturing are controlled by effective stress changes, and such changes may therefore alter hydrocarbon column heights.

Fatigue crack propagation in threshold regime under residual stresses
International Journal of Fatigue, 2010The effect of residual stress on the fatigue crack propagation was analysed for a loading regime close to threshold stress intensity factor range. Fatigue crack propagation experiments were performed on single-edge-notched bending specimens machined from a welded plate.

Gold Layers on Elastomers near the Critical Stress Regime
Advanced Materials Technologies, 2017AbstractSoft electrodes are essential components of soft robotics, tunable optics, microfluidics, flexible electronics, neuroprosthetics, and dielectric elastomeric transducers (DET). The two main paths employed to increase an electrode's compliance involve the manipulation of either its intrinsic material properties or its structural features, such as

Torsional Linearity in Nonlinear Stress-Optical Regimes for Polymeric Materials
ACS Macro Letters, 2016The birefringence on anisotropic materials under flow has been tremendously useful for understanding the physical states of nonequilibrium materials. It is, however, well-known that the linear relationship between the anisotropy of the stress and that of the birefringence breaks down above a certain flow strength, severely limiting its practical ...

The transition from the wear to the stress regime
Wear, 1996Abstract This paper summarises the conclusions drawn from experiences gained on Spoornet with rail-wheel interaction. The reduction in wear between rail and wheel can result in the formation of higher contact stresses under worn conditions. A strategy is proposed combining design and maintenance practices on both vehicle and track to counter the so ...

Annual Physioclimatic Stresses and Regimes in the United States
Geographical Review, 1967G EEOGRAPHICAL and climatological literature abounds with references to the stress, temperateness, or intemperateness of climates. Most of these generalizations are qualitative, subjective statements, not based on concise criteria defining the constituent elements or describing how they could be mapped.' This study proposes a quantitative approach to ...
