Relaxation of thermal stress by dislocation motion in passivated metal interconnects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The development and relaxation of stress in metal interconnects strained by their surroundings (substrate and passivation layers) is predicted by a discrete dislocation analysis.

Modelling of stress field during Submerged Arc Weld surfacing taking into account heat of the weld and phase transformation effect [PDF]

open access: yesEAI Endorsed Transactions on Industrial Networks and Intelligent Systems, 2018
In work the model of stress calculation and analysis of stress field during single-pass SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) surfacing have been presented. In temperature field solution the temperature changes caused by the heat of weld and by electric arc have ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Correlation of microseismic and chemical properties of brittle deformation in Locharbriggs sandstone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The time-dependent properties of ceramic materials such as rocks depend both on preexisting cracks and chemical properties acting at their tips. We have examined the direct effect of chemical processes on the growth of a crack population by carrying out ...

Modeling of a Multi-Storey Building Made of Reinforced Concrete, Taking into Account Damage on a Deformable Foundation

open access: yesЖелезобетонные конструкции, 2023
The construction of a mathematical model based on the finite element method for determining the stress-strain state of a 25-storey reinforced concrete building on a multilayer deformable foundation is considered.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A behavioural and electrophysiological study of factors involved in the relationship between stress and alcohol dependence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Alcohol dependence causes disruption to both work and family life and the associated costs are £150+ million in the UK alone. Stressful life events play a role in initiation of uncontrolled (dependent) drinking and can precipitate relapse to high ethanol

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

TORSION IN THE ELEMENTS OF THE METAL DOME FRAME, SUPPORTED BY SPARSELY INSTALLED COLUMNS

open access: yesInternational Journal for Computational Civil and Structural Engineering
The effect of torsion on the stress state of the main elements of a metal ribbed-annular dome was investigated. The dependence of the torsion effect on the increase in the distance between the columns supporting the dome was revealed.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
