The Afar and Ethiopian plateaus are in a dynamic uplift due to the mantle plume, therefore, considering the plume effect is necessary for any geophysical investigation including the estimation of lithospheric stress in this area. The Earth gravity models

Cyclic Loading and Fabric Evolution in Sand: A Constitutive Investigation [PDF]
An anisotropic plasticity model is proposed to describe the effect of fabric and fabric evolution on the cyclic behaviour of sand within the framework of anisotropic critical state theory.

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

Inside the degenerate horizons of regular black holes
The regularized stress-energy tensor of the quantized massive scalar, spinor and vector fields inside the degenerate horizon of the regular charged black hole in the (anti-)de Sitter universe is constructed and examined.

Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Stress-energy tensor for a quantised bulk scalar field in the Randall-Sundrum brane model
We calculate the vacuum expectation value of the stress-energy tensor for a quantised bulk scalar field in the Randall-Sundrum model, and discuss the consequences of its local behaviour for the self-consistency of the model. We find that, in general, the

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

The Surface Layers Dual to Hydrodynamic Boundaries
The AdS/hydrodynamics correspondence provides a 1-1 map between large wavelength features of AdS black branes and conformal fluid flows. In this note we consider boundaries between nonrelativistic flows, applying the usual boundary conditions for viscous

Stress tensor correlators in three dimensional gravity [PDF]
We calculate holographically arbitrary n-point correlators of the boundary stress tensor in three-dimensional Einstein gravity with negative or vanishing cosmological constant.

Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...
