The contraction stress test has long been used to assess fetal wellbeing in the antepartum period. The CST continues to be a valuable tool for practicing obstetricians when interpreted and managed according to previously published guidelines. More recent data have further defined the level of compromise at which the CST becomes abnormal.

How much capital and liquidity does a bank need – to support its risk taking activities? During the recent (and still ongoing) financial crisis, answers to this question using standard approaches, e.g. regulatory capital ratios, were no longer credible, and thus broad-based supervisory stress testing became the new tool.

NONSTRESS TESTING AND CONTRACTION STRESS TESTING
Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics of North America, 1999Antepartum fetal heart rate (FHR) testing, including the nonstress test and contraction stress test, has evolved in clinical usage over the past 3 decades. Although the nonstress test has become a standard of care in high-risk pregnancy, it has been modified by the use of fetal stimulation (vibroacoustic stimulation) and the addition of automated fetal
