An Automated Stress-Path Control Triaxial System

Geotechnical Testing Journal, 1989
Abstract A triaxial system capable of very accurate automatic control of stress and strain paths is described. The apparatus consists of the ordinary triaxial apparatus available in our laboratory, connected through an analog/digital (A/D) converter to a microcomputer fitted with a feedback control unit.

Stress around pressurized spherical cavities in triaxial stress fields

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1974
Abstract The stress at a given point around a pressurized spherical cavity in an applied triaxial stress field can be calculated using the equations presented in this article. The spherical cavity is assumed to be buried at a depth of greater than 6 cavity radii and the applied triaxial stress field is assumed to be constant.

Improvements to a Stress-Path Triaxial Cell

Geotechnical Testing Journal, 1995
Abstract Stress-path triaxial cells are presently used all over the world. Accurate use of this type of apparatus allows an investigation into the mechanical behavior of soils with regard to a wide range of stress and strain. A correct evaluation of small-strain stiffness requires an accurate definition of the compliance curve of the ...

DETERMINING STRESS IN TUBING USING TRIAXIAL EVALUATION

Proceedings of SPE Annual Fall Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1977
Abstract The tubing string is subjected to various load conditions throughout the productive period of the well. In addition to the load period of the well. In addition to the load conditions imposed while hanging off the tubing during the well completion, operations such as setting hydraulic packers, pressure ...

Stress triaxiality constraint and crack tip parameters

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1993
Abstract A relationship between crack tip constraints of specimens and those defined by the Hutchinson-Rice-Rosengren (HRR) solution in the plane strain case has been derived from the corrected stress-strain field presented by Anderson, by taking account of losses in triaxiality of specimens. An analytical expression has been established and verified

The triaxial vane apparatus with stress control.

2009
The scope of this research has been two fold. The first stage was to develop a Tri Vane Apparatus. The Tri Vane Apparatus uses a miniature vane incorporated into a triaxial cell in order to study the use of the vane in different soils as well as allowing the effects of different vane parameters, such as rotation rate and vane geometry, to be studied in
