ABSTRACT This study investigates the influence of closely spaced surface‐flaw interaction on failure assessment diagrams (FADs) used in fitness‐for‐service evaluations, addressing the conservatism introduced when standards such as BS 7910 and API 579 recharacterize interacting flaws as a single bounding crack.

ABSTRACT For athletes in endurance sports, who compete over several days and in unpredictable conditions, managing sleep–wake rhythms is critical to ensure optimal performance and minimise the risks to safety. Despite its growing popularity, the role of sleep management on ultracycling performance has received little attention.

Using a wearable gait system, we compared MSTS, TESS, and KSS with objective spatiotemporal metrics in patients after rotating‐hinge knee reconstruction. TESS showed the highest median R2 and stronger correlations with walking velocity and step/stride length, outperforming MSTS and KSS.
