Stress kardiomyopathy triggered by unusual situation [PDF]
Stress - “takotsubo” cardiomyopathy - is a reversible mimicking acute myocardial infarction. The trigger is extreme mental or physical stress. The main diagnostic examination is ventriculography with typical left ventricle apical ballooning wall motion abnormality.

Osmotic Stress Triggers Phase Separation [PDF]
In this issue of Molecular Cell, Jalihal et al. (2020) show that cell volume changes upon osmotic stress result in rapid and reversible condensation of numerous multivalent proteins.

The occurrence of the Ms6.8 Luding earthquake on 5 September 2022 filled the seismic gap in the southeastern segment of the Xianshuihe fault zone and transferred stress to the surrounding faults, which attracted much more attention to the seismic hazard.

Ovule Abortion in Arabidopsis Triggered by Stress [PDF]
Abstract Environmental stresses frequently decrease plant fertility. In Arabidopsis, the effect of salt stress on reproduction was examined using plants grown in hydroponic medium. Salt stress inhibited microsporogenesis and stamen filament elongation.

Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Triggers Autophagy [PDF]
Eukaryotic cells have evolved strategies to respond to stress conditions. For example, autophagy in yeast is primarily a response to the stress of nutrient limitation. Autophagy is a catabolic process for the degradation and recycling of cytosolic, long lived, or aggregated proteins and excess or defective organelles.

Earthquakes in the Shadows: Why Aftershocks Occur at Surprising Locations
For decades there has been a debate about the relative effects of dynamic versus static stress triggering of aftershocks. According to the static Coulomb stress change hypothesis, aftershocks should not occur in stress shadows—regions where static ...
