Effects of Stretching Exercise on Heart Rate Variability During Pregnancy

Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing, 2017
Background: Little evidence exists for effects of low-intensity exercises such as stretching on cardiovascular health in pregnant women. Aim: Our aim was to evaluate the effect of a 20-minute stretching exercise on heart rate variability (HRV), blood pressure (BP), and heart rate ...

Effect of stretching the superior vena cava on heart rate in rats

American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1981
The effect on the heart rate of stretching the superior vena cava 3-4 mm above its entrance to the right atrium was examined in rats anesthetized with chloralose. The superior vena cava was stretched 41 times in 16 rats. There was a mean increase of 24.1 +/- 1.9 (SE) beats/min.

Propagation speeds and stretch rates measured along wrinkled flames to assess the theory of flame stretch

Combustion and Flame, 2003
Local propagation speeds and stretch rates were measured along a premixed flame that undergoes unsteady wrinkling in order to see if these two quantities correlate in the manner that is predicted by the theory of flame stretch. The Markstein number, which relates these two quantities, also was measured.

Stretching Rate of Passive Lines in Turbulence

2005
The temporal evolution of passive lines in turbulence of an incompressible viscous fluid is simulated numerically for the Taylor-length Reynolds umber up to 252. The passive lines elongate in average exponentially in time. The mean exponential stretching rate γ obeys the Kolmogorov scaling law, i.e.

Stretching of polymer in a random flow: Effect of a shear rate

EPL (Europhysics Letters), 2010
The role of increasing shear rate on polymer extension and angular statistics in a random flow is studied. Large polymer extension results from a random part of a velocity field, whereas a shear component suppresses it although the coil-stretch transition occurs even at the highest shear rates.

Combustion in a stretched fuel strip with finite rate chemistry☆

Combustion and Flame, 1991
Abstract This article concerns a combined analytical and numerical study of finite rate exothermic chemical reactions in a one-dimensional fuel strip embedded in an oxidizing medium. The fuel and oxidizer undergo time dependent in-plane straining motion resembling a fuel strip that is being continuously stretched by the local velocity gradients in a ...

A rate-dependent analysis and experiment on the sheet-stretching process

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1993
Abstract A rate-dependent elasto-plastic finite-element formulation of boundary-value problems has been developed for the large deformation sheet-stretching process. The formulation used is based on the power form constitutive equation for the stress-strain-strain rate relation of the material.

On the relationship between the logarithmic strain rate and the stretching tensor

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1983
Abstract In this paper we investigate the relationship between the stretching tensor D and the logarithmic (Hencky) strain In V, with V the left stretch tensor. We establish the simple formula 1, which holds for arbitrary three-dimensional motions.
