Photon Avalanching Nanoparticles: The Next Generation of Upconverting Nanomaterials?
This Perspective outlines the mechanistic foundations that enable photon‐avalanche (PA) behavior in lanthanide nanomaterials and contrasts them with emerging application spaces and forward‐looking design strategies. By bridging threshold engineering, energy‐transfer dynamics, and materials engineering, we provide a coherent roadmap for advancing the ...

A necessary and sufficient condition for Wilson's impossibility theorem with strict non-imposition [PDF]
Wilson's impossibility theorem (Wilson(1972)) about Arrovian social welfare functions (Arrow(1963)) states that there exists a dictator or an inverse-dictator for any non-null social welfare function which satisfies the conditions of unrestricted domain,

Maximal correlation and the rate of Fisher information convergence in the Central Limit Theorem
We consider the behaviour of the Fisher information of scaled sums of independent and identically distributed random variables in the Central Limit Theorem regime.

Multi‐Functional ZnO–Te Heterojunction Devices Enabling Compact Frequency Quadrupler
Wafer‐scale ZnO–Te heterojunction devices featuring tunable double negative differential transconductance (D‐NDT) are demonstrated at ≤ 200°C. Leveraging this unique characteristic, a single‐stage frequency quadrupler is realized, achieving a 64%–75% reduction in device count.

Testing strict monotonicity in nonparametric regression [PDF]
A new test for strict monotonicity of the regression function is proposed which is based on a composition of an estimate of the inverse of the regression function with a common regression estimate. This composition is equal to the identity if and only if

MODIFIED EXTRAGRADIENT METHODS FOR STRICT PSEUDO-CONTRACTIONS AND MONOTONE MAPPINGS
In this paper we introduce an iterative process to find a common element of the set of fixed points of a strict pseudo-contraction and the set of solutions of the variational inequality problem for a monotone and Lipschitz continuous mapping. The iterative process is based on the so-called modified extragradient method.

Nonlocal Conduction in a Metawire
A 1D metawire composed of twisted copper wires is designed and realized. This metamaterial exhibits pronounced effects of nonlocal electric conduction according to Ohm's law. The current at one location not only depends on the electric field at that location but also on other locations.

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

On Take It or Leave It Offers in Common Agency [PDF]
If the agent's preference relation satisfies a strict monotonicity condition in common agency under the asymmetric information, the set of all equilibrium allocations in the menu game where menus of contracts are allowed coincides with the set of all ...
