Full Computational Reproducibility in Biological Science: Methods, Software and a Case Study in Protein Biology [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Independent computational reproducibility of scientific results is rapidly becoming of pivotal importance in scientific progress as computation itself plays a more and more central role in so many branches of science. Historically, reproducibility has followed the familiar Popperian [38] model whereby theory cannot be verified by scientific testing, it

Super Subtotal Gastrectomy: A Novel Reconstruction Concept for Upper Gastric Cancer That Preserves the Fornix

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
We developed a novel super subtotal gastrectomy (SSTG) technique for upper‐third gastric cancer near the esophagogastric junction. This method preserves the gastric fornix, a major site of ghrelin secretion, while maintaining an oral margin beyond the esophageal junction. SSTG offers a potential solution for reducing postoperative complications such as

Relationship Between Kyphosis and Postoperative Gastroesophageal Reflux After Proximal Gastrectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study examined the relationship between kyphosis and postoperative gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) after proximal gastrectomy using a kyphosis definition that is familiar to surgeons for preoperative assessment. Multivariate analysis revealed that kyphosis is an independent risk factor for GERD after proximal gastrectomy.

Analysis of the risk of future gastrointestinal surgery in Crohn's disease with stricture

open access: yesThe Saudi Journal of Gastroenterology
Background: Stricture in patients with Crohn's disease (CD) carries a high risk of CD-related surgery in the course of the disease. The aim of this study was to assess the rate of occurrence of CD-related surgery and to determine baseline risk factors ...
