String Physics at Low Energies [PDF]

open access: bronzeProgress of Theoretical Physics Supplement, 2003
The recent understanding of string theory opens the possibility that the string scale can be as low as a few TeV. The apparent weakness of gravitational interactions can then be accounted by the existence of large internal dimensions, in the submillimeter region.

String Theory - The Physics of String-Bending and Other Electric Guitar Techniques

open access: goldPLoS ONE, 2014
Electric guitar playing is ubiquitous in practically all modern music genres. In the hands of an experienced player, electric guitars can sound as expressive and distinct as a human voice. Unlike other more quantised instruments where pitch is a discrete function, guitarists can incorporate micro-tonality and, as a result, vibrato and sting-bending are

Physics of String Flux Compactifications [PDF]

open access: greenAnnual Review of Nuclear and Particle Science, 2007
We provide a qualitative review of flux compactifications of string theory, focusing on broad physical implications and statistical methods of analysis.

Effective string amplitudes for hadronic physics [PDF]

open access: greenNuclear Physics B, 1993
We propose using the general structure and properties of conformal field theory amplitudes, in particular those defined on surfaces with boundaries, to explore effective string theory amplitudes for some hadronic processes. Two examples are considered to illustrate the approach.

A Short Introduction to BIT-STRING PHYSICS [PDF]

open access: green, 2001
This paper starts with a personal memoir of how some significant ideas arose and events took place during the period from 1972, when I first encountered Ted Bastin, to 1979, when I proposed the foundation of ANPA. I then discuss program universe, the fine structure paper and its rejection, the quantitative results up to ANPA 17 and take a new look at ...

Rindler Physics on the String Worldsheet [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2021
We construct the tensionless limit of bosonic string theory in terms of a family of worldsheets with increasing acceleration and show that the null string emerges in the limit of infinite acceleration when the Rindler horizon is hit. We discover a novel phenomenon we call null string complementarity, which gives two distinct observer-dependent pictures
