Naturalness in D-brane inspired models

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We examine the naturalness of the D-brane inspired model constructed in flipped SU(5) supplemented with vector-like particles at the TeV scale, dubbed flippons.

The fate of Newton's law in brane-world scenarios

open access: yes, 2011
We consider brane-world scenarios embedded into string theory. We find that the D-brane backreaction induces a large increase in the open string's proper length.

Dark bubbles: decorating the wall

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
Motivated by the difficulty of constructing de Sitter vacua in string theory, a new approach was proposed in arXiv:1807.01570 and arXiv:1907.04268 , where four dimensional de Sitter space was realized as the effective cosmology, with matter and radiation,

An Exceptional Sector for F-theory GUTs

open access: yes, 2010
D3-branes are often a necessary ingredient in global compactifications of F-theory. In minimal realizations of flavor hierarchies in F-theory GUT models, suitable fluxes are turned on, which in turn attract D3-branes to the Yukawa points.

FTheoryTools: Advancing Computational Capabilities for F‐Theory Research

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 74, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract A primary goal of string phenomenology is to identify realistic four‐dimensional physics within the landscape of string theory solutions. In F‐theory, such solutions are encoded in the geometry of singular elliptic fibrations, whose study often requires particularly challenging and cumbersome computations.

Unoriented D-brane instantons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We give a pedagogical introduction to D-brane instanton effects in vacuum configurations with open and unoriented strings. We focus on quiver gauge theories for unoriented D-branes at orbifold singularities and describe in some detail the Z_3 case, where

Two Micron‐Size Dark Dimensions

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Two extra dimensions of micron scale might simultaneously address the gauge and cosmological hierarchy problems. In this paper various observational bounds in scenarios with one and two large extra dimensions are examined, to see if they are compatible with the micron scale.

Higgs and superparticle mass predictions from the landscape

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
Predictions for the scale of SUSY breaking from the string landscape go back at least a decade to the work of Denef and Douglas on the statistics of flux vacua.

A Toy Model for Gauge-Mediation in Intersecting Brane Models

open access: yes, 2009
We discuss the phenomenology of a toy intersecting brane model where supersymmetry is dynamically broken in an open string hidden sector and gauge-mediated to the visible sector. Scalar masses ~ TeV are easily realizable, and R-symmetry is broken.

A K-theory Anomaly Free Supersymmetric Flipped SU(5) Model from Intersecting Branes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We construct an N=1 supersymmetric three-family flipped SU(5) model from type IIA orientifolds on $T^6/(\Z_2\times \Z_2)$ with D6-branes intersecting at general angles.
