Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Plasmon Lifetime in K: A Case Study of Correlated Electrons in Solids Amenable to Ab Initio Theory

open access: yes, 1998
On the basis of a new ab initio, all-electron response scheme, formulated within time-dependent density-functional theory, we solve the puzzle posed by the anomalous dispersion of the plasmon linewidth in K. The key damping mechanism is shown to be decay

BEARING CAPACITY OF STRIP FOOTING ON REINFORCED LAYERED GRANULAR SOILS

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2015
In this study a limit equilibrium method is proposed to determine the bearing capacity of strip foundations on geosynthetic reinforced sand soils. A two-layered granular soil was foreseen to represent the loose in situ soil and the compacted fill above the reinforcement.

Flexibility and Dynamicity Enhances and Controls Supramolecular Self‐Assembly of Zinc(II) Metallogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc(II) coordination complexes with tunable aryloxy‐imine ligands exhibit controllable supramolecular self‐assembly into hierarchical fibrous structures. Coordination‐driven stacking, not π–π interactions, enables gelation, dynamic assembly/disassembly, and enhanced nanomechanical properties.

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Multiscale Structuring of Hydroxyapatite via Two‐Photon Lithography of Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hydroxyapatite scaffolds are of great interest in bone tissue engineering applications, ranging from 3D cell culture to regenerative medicine. Using two‐photon lithography of a transparent nanocomposite, hydroxyapatite microstructures with features ranging from submicron to centimeter‐scale are fabricated. This allows to mimic the natural bone geometry,

Investigating the changing deformation mechanism beneath shallow foundations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The design of shallow foundations has traditionally used a mixture of plasticity-based solutions to find the ultimate limit state and either a factor of safety on the plasticity solution or a linear elastic solution to attempt to design for the ...
