A novel hybrid strip finishing process to improve mechanical properties and reduce energy consumption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The growing demand for new steel grades, such as high formability steels and high or ultra-high strength steels for structural and safety-related automotive components, make manufacturing steel sheets an increasingly complex task. A novel hybrid process (

Polymer Interface Enables Reversible Quasi‐Solid Sulfur Conversion in Sodium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polymer interface enables a stable quasi‐solid sulfur conversion pathway in room‐temperature Na─S batteries. The coating regulates Na+ transport, stabilizes the cathode–electrolyte interphase, and accommodates mechanical stress, suppressing electrolyte decomposition and sulfur migration, thereby improving reaction uniformity, reducing polarization,

Effect of Forming Parameters on the Fracture Behaviour of AISI 430 Steel in Draw-Bend Fracture Test

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical and Materials Engineering
The draw-bend fracture (DBF) test was used to simulate the different forming conditions of AISI 430 steel strips with thickness of 0.8 mm. The tests were performed for varying test parameters such tool radius, drawing speed and strip orientation.

On the influence of surface stresses and inertia on the natural low-frequency vibrations of an elastic ultrathin strip-beam [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия Саратовского университета. Новая серия: Математика. Механика. Информатика
A differential equation is derived that describes free long-wave vibrations of a low-dimensional elastic isotropic strip-beam, taking into account  effects on free surfaces.  Boundary conditions on external surfaces are formulated within the ...

Formation of Quasi‐Decoupling Interface on Li‐Metal Anodes in High Donor Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Li‐metal anode (LMA) is stabilized by introducing Li2Te2 as an electrolyte additive for Li‐metal batteries. Upon contact with Li, Li2Te2 spontaneously converts to Li2Te, which electronically isolates Li from dimethyl sulfoxide due to its large bandgap and minimal Bader charge transfer.

Solvent Co‐Intercalation Enabled Ca Storage in MoS2 for Ca‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Regulating electrolyte solvation levels enables otherwise non‐intercalatable Ca2+ ions to reversibly co‐intercalate into molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) as ether‐solvated species. The intercalation reversibility is strongly governed by solvent chain length, as demonstrated using diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (G2) and tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (

Integrated Field‐Free SOT Domain‐Wall Synapses and MTJ Stochastic Neurons for Hardware Boltzmann Machines

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Field‐free spin‐orbit torque domain‐wall synapses integrated with stochastic MTJ neurons enable compact hardware Boltzmann machines. Leveraging intrinsic stochasticity and multi‐level conductance, the system achieves efficient probabilistic learning with high accuracy, demonstrating a scalable spintronic platform for energy‐efficient edge AI.

Simulation Study on Spread of Thin Strip Rolling by Wire Rod

open access: yesTeshugang, 2016
The deformation process of thin strip rolling by hot-rolled rod is simulated and tested by Φ130 mm two-high rolling mill in laboratory using Φ11 mm lead bar to replace hot-rolling rod. Result show that for thickness of thin strip is 1.2 mm the spread can

Effect of Casting Parameters on the Microstructural and Mechanical Behavior of Magnesium AZ31-B Alloy Strips Cast on a Single Belt Casting Simulator

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2014
Strips of magnesium alloy AZ31-B were cast on a simulator of a horizontal single belt caster incorporating a moving mold system. Mixtures of CO2 and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gases were used as protective atmosphere during melting and casting.
