Performance updating of CdZnTe strip-drift detectors

open access: yes, 2007
Efficiency of strip-drift structure of contacts for improvement of charge collection conditions in CdZnTe detectors was shown some years ago. For such detector with area 10 x 10 mm(2) and thickness 3 mm of crystal, produced by eV products we obtained ...

Microengineered Gradient Hydrogels for Mechanobiology

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gradient hydrogels are used to mimic the mechanical heterogeneity in native tissues, offering powerful in vitro platforms to study cell‐material interactions in diverse pathophysiological contexts. Here, we present a comprehensive review of the design and experimental considerations for stiffness gradient hydrogels, discussing exemplary achievements ...

Folding a Paper Strip to Minimize Thickness

open access: yesFolding a Paper Strip to Minimize Thickness
In this paper, we study how to fold a specified origami crease pattern in order to minimize the impact of paper thickness. Specifically, origami designs are often expressed by a mountain-valley pattern (plane graph of creases with relative fold orientations), but in general this specification is consistent with exponentially many possible folded states.

Improving strip cleanliness after cold rolling

open access: yes, 2011
Strip cleanliness in the industrial cold rolling mill must be controlled by optimizing the roll, strip, lubricant and process parameters. Obtained experimental evidence in this work shows which of these parameters have a significant influence on strip ...

Simultaneous Electrochemical Detection of NGF and proNGF Under Native Conditions Using Molecularly Imprinted Polymers: Toward Point‐of‐Care Diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study relies on the development of a new sensor that can detect two closely related proteins involved in Alzheimer's disease at the same time. Unlike traditional methods, it works in natural conditions and does not require sample pretreatment. The device is highly sensitive and was successfully tested on patient samples, offering promises for ...

Long‐Term Hydrophilic, Anti‐Clotting, and Anti‐Fibrotic Dynamic Covalent Silicone‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic covalent crosslinking of a Schiff‐base silicone elastomer with hydrazide‐functionalized polymers is demonstrated to improve the long‐term hydrophilicity as well as the anti‐fouling and anti‐clotting properties of PDMS implants. The hydrazone‐functionalized material prevents hydrophobic recovery, resists clotting, and significantly reduces ...

Design and real time implementation of nonlinear minimum variance filter

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, the design and real time implementation of a Nonlinear Minimum Variance (NMV) estimator is presented using a laboratory based ball and beam system. The real time implementation employs a LabVIEW based tool. The novelty of this work lies in
