Utility of Phosphorus Enhancers and Strip-Tillage for Corn Production

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science, 2013
Farmers are seeking ways to diminish phosphorus (P) fertilizer rates and increase plant P uptake by means of enhanced efficiency P treatments. The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of tillage/fertilizer placement [no-till-surface broadcast (NT-BC) or strip-till-deep band (ST-DB)], monoammonium phosphate (MAP) rate (0, 56, and 112 ...

Influence of Cropping Sequence and Tillage System on Plant-Parasitic Nematodes and Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) Response to Fluopyram Applied at Planting

open access: yesAgronomy
Crop sequence and tillage can affect the yield of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) and other crops. Research was conducted from 2006 through 2022 to determine the response of peanut to previous crop sequences including corn (Zea mays L.) and cotton ...

The functional role of ants in no‐till cropping systems

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Ants provide valuable ecosystem services in tropical agriculture, but their roles in temperate row crops remain poorly understood. Conservation practices such as no‐till farming and cover cropping support ant communities that contribute to pest suppression, weed seed removal, and soil quality, which can increase crop productivity.

Package-combined agricultural machine for strip tillage

open access: yesTraktory i sel hozmashiny, 2015
A package-combined agricultural machine for strip tillage has been developed. It is capable of performing 8-10 operations simultaneously during one field day. As a result, the consumption of combustive and lubricating materials decreases by 2-2,5 times. The calculation formula for performance of machine for strip tillage is obtained.

Evaluation of the versatile multi-crop planter for establishing sprouted direct-seeded rice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Wetland rice seeding is an increasingly common practice for irrigated and favourable rainfed lowlands. Most developed countries sow rice seed in saturated water to minimize cost and labour requirements (Smith and Show, 1996).

Isolation, Insularity and Resilience: A Review of the Geophysical, Socioeconomic, and Environmental Vulnerabilities of Gran Canaria and Lesvos Islands for Policy Interventions to Global Change

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The dynamic nature of small islands being geographically isolated and their perceived connectedness with global networks complicates research attempts to draw general conclusions on whether insularity leads to marginalization or strengthens their resilience for sustainable development.
