The Two-Stroke Rotary Engine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998
<div class="htmlview paragraph">An innovative rotary engine uses a rotor that executes pendulum-like oscillatory rotation. This is converted into uniform rotation of the drive shaft by a simple mechanism. The engine also employs parameter resonance. The new design is compact and lightweight.

The Rand-Cam Engine: A Pistonless Four Stroke Engine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1994
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The Rand-Cam engine is a positive displacement machine, operating on a four stroke cycle, which consists of a rotor with multiple axial vanes forming combustion chambers as the rotor and vanes rotate in a cam shaped housing.

Endogenous regeneration: Engineering growth factors for stroke

Neurochemistry International, 2017
Despite the efforts in developing therapeutics for stroke, recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) remains the only FDA approved drug for ischemic stroke. Regenerative medicine targeting endogenous growth factors has drawn much interest in the clinical field as it provides potential restoration for the damaged brain tissue without being limited

Scavenging the two-stroke engine

Progress in Energy and Combustion Science, 1990
Abstract The scavenging process is the most important factor controlling the efficiency and performance characteristics of a two-stroke-cycle engine. This article reviews and assesses experimental and theoretical methods, which have been applied during the past three decades, to evaluate the success of the scavenging process.

An intelligent game engine for the at-home rehabilitation of stroke patients

2013 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Serious Games and Applications for Health (SeGAH), 2013
The recent availability of advanced video game interfaces (such as the Microsoft Kinect, the Nintendo WiiMote and Balance Board) is creating interesting opportunities to provide low-cost rehabilitation at-home for patients. In this context, video games are rising as promising tools to guide patients through their recovery experience and to increase ...

Comparison of an E10 Direct Injection Two-Stroke Cycle Engine and an E85 Four-Stroke Cycle Engine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2003
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Illustrated within this paper is Minnesota State University, Mankato Automotive Engineering Technology program's entry to the 2003 Clean Snowmobile Challenge held in Houghton, Michigan. Encompassed in this report are the criteria of performance, emissions, chassis, noise control, and results. Characterized in these

WHILE loops and the analogy of the single stroke engine

ACM SIGCSE Bulletin, 1991
Researchers have found that loop constructs, such as the WHILE (top tested) and REPEAT-UNTIL (bottom tested) in modern programming languages are problematic for a significant number of novice programming students[5]. In theory, any bottom tested loop can be implemented as a top tested loop.

Release Process in a Four‐Stroke Engine

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1947
THE problem of silencing the exhaust of a piston engine requires that attention be given to the two main sources of gas noise; firstly, relatively low frequency vibrations in the exhaust column itself, excited by a pressure pulse produced by the rapid rush of gas from the cylinder into the exhaust pipe, and, secondly, high frequency vibrations ...

Camshaft Modification for Conversion of Four-Stroke Engines To Six-Stroke Engines

In this study, camshaft modification was carried out to convert a four-stroke engine into a six-stroke engine. For this purpose, six-stroke engine strategies in the literature were examined in detail. As a result of the examination, a free-stroke strategy without exhaust heat recovery was preferred.
