Cerebrovascular regulation in patients with active tumors and an acute ischemic stroke: a retrospective analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
IntroductionIschemic stroke in patients with a systemic tumor disease or cancer not in remission (active tumors) is less well understood. Some aspects of such paraneoplastic strokes remind on a generalized cerebrovascular disorder.

Movement Disorders in Aicardi–Goutières Syndrome and Response to Immunomodulation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study characterizes movement disorders and treatment responses in seven children with Aicardi–Goutières syndrome (AGS). We retrospectively evaluated motor phenotypes, neuroimaging, and interferon signatures in patients treated with baricitinib or anifrolumab. Spasticity affected all patients, while dystonia was present in 4/7.

Common variants at 6p21.1 are associated with large artery atherosclerotic stroke [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have not consistently detected replicable genetic risk factors for ischemic stroke, potentially due to etiological heterogeneity of this trait.

Improvement of Left Ventricular Ejection Time Measurement in the Impedance Cardiography Combined with the Reflection Photoplethysmography

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Cardiac stroke volume (SV) is an essential hemodynamic indicator that can be used to assess whether the pump function of the heart is normal. Non-invasive SV measurement is currently performed using the impedance cardiography (ICG).

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Glial and axonal body fluid biomarkers are related to infarct volume, severity, and outcome.

open access: yes, 2008
Body fluid biomarkers of central nervous system damage may help improve the prognostic and diagnostic accuracy in ischemic stroke. We studied 53 patients.

Association between physician volume and hospitalization costs for patients with stroke in Taiwan: A nationwide population-based study

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE - Past studies consistently show an inverse relationship between physicians' surgical procedures/diagnoses volume and cost. There is little information available on this aspect of stroke care.

Does the prevention of complications explain the survival benefit of organized inpatient (stroke unit) care? Further analysis of a systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007

Background and Purpose: Systematic reviews have shown that organized inpatient (stroke unit) care reduces the risk of death after stroke. However, it is unclear how this is achieved.

Spatial and Volumetric Characteristics of Glioblastoma: Associations With Clinical Presentation and Survival

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective We aim to comprehensively analyze how regional tumor and edema characteristics are associated with clinical presentations and survival outcomes in a large cohort of glioblastoma patients. Methods Patients with IDH‐wildtype glioblastoma who received brain MRI from 2010 to 2023 were included.
