Tumor‐Regional Immune Microenvironment: A Critical Factor in the Design of Radiotherapy–Immunotherapy Combination Trials

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Clinical trials combining radiotherapy (RT) with immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) have shown improved outcomes in only a fraction of patients, and optimal strategies for integrating these modalities remain under intense investigation. With a few exceptions, phase III combination trials have yielded disappointing results.

Immune Markers and Risk of Pancreatic Cancer in the European EPIC Cohort

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
The immune system has been implicated as a major driver in pancreatic cancer etiology. Previous cohort studies have found associations between pancreatic cancer and single immune system‐derived markers, but omics‐based evidence remains scarce. In this prospective case–control study, the authors investigated 92 proteins involved in immune reactions and ...

Surgically confirmed severe endometriosis is associated with lower risk of steatotic liver disease: Evidence of estrogen‐linked hepatic–reproductive crosstalk

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Severe surgically confirmed endometriosis was associated with a lower prevalence of steatotic liver disease than non‐severe disease. Higher estradiol levels may partly explain this inverse hepatic–reproductive association, supporting integrated gynecologic and hepatologic risk assessment.
