Agglutination of erythrocyte stromata by myxoviruses in agar gel

Virology, 1967
Abstract A new procedure for studying interaction of viruses with erythrocyte receptors is described by demonstrating that myxoviruses diffusing in agar gel against erythrocyte stromata form distinct reaction lines. Reactions obtained with influenza viruses A, A2, and B as well as with Newcastle disease virus are described and discussed.

Light microscopy of the virogenic stromata of cytopolyhedroses

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1966
Abstract The cytopolyhedroses of the larvae of many species of Lepidoptera were examined, particularly during early stages of infection. In all cases virogenesis was confined to the midgut cells, usually to the epithelial cells, but in some it also occurred in the goblet cells.

Fertilization of Epichloë typhina stromata by mycophagous slugs

Mycologia, 2014
Epichloë typhina, a fungal endophyte of cool season grasses, is heterothallic and an obligate out-crosser. In areas of endemism, its spermatia are moved between stromata of the two opposite mating types through egg-laying activities of Botanophila flies.

Rhizomorphs and perithecial stromata of Podosordaria tulasnei (Xylariaceae)

Mycologist, 2000
After incubation on moist filter paper, Podosordaria tulasnei frequently formed sterile stromata on rabbit pellets collected from the field. These developed extensive submerged rhizomorph systems when pellets were incubated on sand, but further differentiation and sexual reproduction occurred only when pellets bearing such structures were buried in ...
