ON EYE OF THE GASTROPOD STROMBUS GIBBERULUS (GASTROPODA: STROMBIDAE) FROM THE RED SEA [PDF]

Molecular phylogenetics of the superfamily Stromboidea (Caenogastropoda): New insights from increased taxon sampling [PDF]
Abstract The superfamily Stromboidea is a clade of morphologically distinctive gastropods which include the iconic Strombidae, or ‘true conchs’. In this study, we present the most taxonomically extensive phylogeny of the superfamily to date, using fossil calibrations to produce a chronogram and extant geographical distributions to reconstruct ancestral

This revision of the genus Canarium Schumacher, 1817 after Abbott (1960) advances our understanding of the phylogeny of Strombidae. Morphological characters were used to generate a phylogeny using maximum likelihood and including all of the recognised species.

Is the Queen conch Strombus gigas (Mesogastropoda: Strombidae) a species with Allee effect?
The marine park of Xel-Há has a population of Strombus gigas which breeds in the area. We determined the relationship between reproductive activity, conch density and environmental parameters.

AbstractDigestive tubules of Strombidae are composed by three cell types: digestive cells, vacuolated cells, and crypt cells. The last one is characterized by the presence of intracellular granules identified as spherocrystals. Such structures are known to occur in basophilic cells of gastropod digestive gland, where they are supposed to be involved in

About abnormalities on the number of eyes and the evolution of the possible eye-sight related shell aspects in Strombidae; introducing new shell terms in Strombidae morphology (Gastropoda: Stromboidea, Strombidae) [PDF]
Aberrations on the number of eyes and strombid notches, the evolution of the eye- sight, the use of the anterior canal and other morphological adaptions to the shells of the family are discussed. Animals with 3 and 4 eyes instead of 2 eyes are reported just as shells with 2 strombid notches instead of one strombid notch.
