Array Observations for Long-Period Basin Ground Motions in the Taipei Region during the M 7.1 Eastern Taiwan Offshore Earthquake of 31 March 2002

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2010
This paper tracks the time history and spatial variation of the long-period (1 - 10 sec) strong ground motions recorded in the Taipei basin during the magnitude 7.1 earthquake of 31 March 2002, offshore of eastern Taiwan.

Seismic Performance of a Y-Shaped Irregular Bridge Subjected to Strong and Multidirectional Ground Motions

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
A 1/20 scale model of a Y-shaped irregular bridge was designed, and shaking-table tests were performed to simulate its failure mechanism and performance characteristics when subjected to a multidirectional strong earthquake.

Preliminary finite difference simulation of long-period strong ground motions for the Yangbi MS6.4 earthquake

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评, 2022
According to the geological and geomorphic characteristics of the Sichuan-Yunnan area, previous geological data and the preliminary inversion results of source parameters of the Yangbi MS6.4 earthquake in 2021, we established a three-dimensional velocity

Characteristics of Strong Ground Motions in the 30 October 2020, MW6.9 Aegean Sea Earthquake

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2022
The eastern parts of the Aegean Sea were struck by a destructive MW 6.9 earthquake on 30 October 2020 at 11:51:27 UTC. The earthquake ruptured an East-West trending normal fault in the Aegean Sea between the northern coast of Samos Island and the ...

Financial Burden Associated With Hospitalisation Among Families of Childhood Brain Tumours in Australia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Families of children with cancer experience significant financial strain, even with universal healthcare. Indirect costs, such as productivity losses and non‐medical expenses, are rarely included in economic evaluations, and little is known about how effectively financial aid programmes alleviate this burden. Childhood brain tumours

Evidence of strong long-period ground motions of engineering importance for Nankai Trough plate boundary earthquakes: comparison of ground motions of two moderate-magnitude earthquakes

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2018
We analyzed strong-motion and broadband recordings of two moderate-magnitude earthquakes that occurred in the Nankai Trough. The first event was the 2004 Mw 6.5 southeast off-Kii peninsula earthquake, an aftershock event inside the Philippine Sea Plate ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Simulation of Strong Earthquake Ground Motions Based on the Phase Derivative

open access: yesBuildings
A physical method for modeling the phase spectrum of earthquake ground motion is derived by defining relationships between the envelope delay and Fourier amplitude.
