On Chung-Teicher Type Strong Law of Large Numbers for 𝜌∗-Mixing Random Variables

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2008
In this paper the classical strong laws of large number of Kolmogorov, Chung, and Teicher for independent random variables were generalized on the case of 𝜌∗-mixing sequence. The main result was applied to obtain a Marcinkiewicz SLLN.

A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

Weighted Strong Law of Large Numbers for Random Variables Indexed by a Sector

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, 2011
We find necessary and sufficient conditions for the weighted strong law of large numbers for independent random variables with multidimensional indices belonging to some sector.

Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund Strong Law of Large Numbers for Pairwise i.i.d. Random Variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
It is shown that the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund strong law of large numbers holds for pairwise independent identically distributed random variables. It is proved that if $X_{1}, X_{2}, \ldots$ are pairwise independent identically distributed random variables ...

Law of large numbers for branching symmetric Hunt processes with measure-valued branching rates

open access: yes, 2016
We establish weak and strong law of large numbers for a class of branching symmetric Hunt processes with the branching rate being a smooth measure with respect to the underlying Hunt process, and the branching mechanism being general and state-dependent.

Effectiveness of rTMS on Working Memory and Inhibitory Impairments in Patients With Post‐Stroke Executive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Considerable efforts have been dedicated to developing effective treatments for post‐stroke executive impairment (PSEI), among which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown great potential. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of high‐frequency rTMS on working memory (WM) and response ...

Limit properties for ratios of order statistics from exponentials

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
In this paper, we study the limit properties of the ratio for order statistics based on samples from an exponential distribution and obtain the expression of the density functions, the existence of the moments, the strong law of large numbers for R n i j

Necessary and Sufficient Conditions for the Strong Law of Large Numbers for U-statistics

open access: yes, 1999
Under some mild regularity on the normalizing sequence, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the Strong Law of Large Numbers for (symmetrized) U-statistics. We also obtain nasc's for the a.s.

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...

On a simple strategy weakly forcing the strong law of large numbers in the bounded forecasting game

open access: yes, 2005
In the framework of the game-theoretic probability of Shafer and Vovk (2001) it is of basic importance to construct an explicit strategy weakly forcing the strong law of large numbers (SLLN) in the bounded forecasting game.
