Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

Infinite-word languages and continuous mappings

open access: yes, 1986
Languages with infinite words have often been studied as subsets of a topological space. The topology used for this purpose was always the natural topology of sequences. This paper suggests that another topology may be more useful.

No Holes Barred: Using Topological Data Analysis Approaches to Understand the Link Between Neural Population Activity and Behavior

open access: yes, 2022
Standard approaches to studying neural data typically rely on making an underlying linear assumption about the data. This approach is useful for its simplicity and the fact that it does not require huge amounts of data to test hypotheses.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Reconfigurable Logic‐in‐Memory Operations Enabled by Triple‐Gated Feedback Field‐Effect Transistors for Area‐Efficient Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A reconfigurable logic‐in‐memory cell composed of triple‐gated feedback field‐effect transistors implements multiple combinational logic functions within a single configuration. By utilizing program gates as dynamic input terminals, the proposed cell performs full adder, full subtractor, 2‐to‐1 multiplexer, and 4‐to‐2 encoder operations without ...

Topology, Entanglement, and Strong Correlations

open access: yes, 2020
Topology and entanglement are key concepts in many-body physics. Understanding the as-sociated emergent phenomena beyond toy models – in the world of real strongly-correlatedmaterials – requires the mastery of a wealth of different methods ...

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Topology Optimization of Orthotropic Elastic Design Domains with Mortar Contact Conditions

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we perform topology optimization of orthotropic elastic design domains in unilateral contact with non-matching meshes by adopting the mortar approach.

Synthesis and Characterization of π‑Extended Triangulene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The electronic and magnetic properties of nanographenes strongly depend on their size, shape and topology. While many nanographenes present a closed-shell electronic structure, certain molecular topologies may lead to an open-shell structure.

A Surface‐engineered Microfluidic Device for Antibody‐Mediated Negative Selection of High‐Quality Sperm for Assisted Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a microfluidic device with a functionalized surface utilizing a polyoxazoline coating and covalently immobilized gold nanoparticles and anti‐phosphatidylserine antibody. The device efficiently eliminates pre‐apoptotic and apoptotic spermatozoa and yields sperm with substantially improved quality and low DNA damage, offering a simple ...
