Nature, 1968Estimations of the amount of strontium-90 on the Earth's surface indicate that maximum fallout occurred late in 1966. Of the 13 MCi recorded at the beginning of 1967, 82 per cent of this was in the northern hemisphere.

Measurements were made of the Sr/sup 90/ content of 121 teeth collected in 1959. After a number of analytical steps, the final Sr/sup 90/ content was determined by counting carrier-free Y/sup 90/ daughter. A statistical analysis of results indicates that there is a definite inverse correlation between Sr/sup 90/ concentration and age.
