Final report on a field study of soil-to-plant transfer of radioactive caesium, strontium and zinc in tropical Northern Australia to the IAEA/FAO/IUR CRP on classification of soils systems on the basis of transfer factors of radionuclides from soil to reference plants. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Soil-to-plant radionuclide transfer factors for cesium (134Cs), strontium (85Sr) and zinc (65Zn) into sorghum and mung plants grown in tropical Australia have been determined over a four-year study period.

Long‐Term Deformation in the Alpine‐Provence Foreland Constrained by In Situ Calcite U‐Pb Dating

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The evolution of the Alpine‐Provence foreland is characterized by multiple deformation phases since the Mesozoic, representing successive compressional and extensional episodes. The precise timing and spatial evolution of these deformation phases remain poorly constrained due to the lack of absolute geochronological data. Here, we present U–Pb

Quarterly report on the strontium heat source development program and the beneficial isotopes utilization program, Division of Nuclear Research and Applications for April--June 1977. [WESF capsules of /sup 90/SrF/sub 2/]

open access: yes, 1977
The Strontium Heat Source Development Program is divided in three tasks, i.e., (1) chemical and physical properties of /sup 90/SrF/sub 2/; (2) /sup 90/SrF/sub 2/ compatibility studies; and (3) capsule qualification and licensing.

Chemical Geodynamics of Granitoid Magmatism During a Pacific‐Philippine Sea Plate Transition in Southwest Japan

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Granitoid magmatism along the western Pacific margin records interactions between subduction dynamics and crust–mantle processes; however, the links between plate reorganization and magma‐source evolution remain debated. Here we integrate U–Pb zircon geochronology with Pb–Sr–Nd–Hf isotope systematics to investigate Cretaceous–Paleogene ...

LETHAL EFFECT OF ABSORBED RADIOISOTOPES ON PLANTS

open access: yes, 1948
The lethal dose of P32 and Sr90 for wheat, barley, and sunflower seeds is approximately 1.4 microcuries per seed (0.05 rd.). Radioautographs indicate that at five weeks' growth the distribution of phosphorus in a wheat plant is fairly uniform whereas ...

PRODUCTION OF STRONTIUM-TITANATE RADIOISOTOPE FUEL FOR SNAP 7B THERMOELECTRIC GENERATOR [PDF]

open access: yes, 1963
The conversion of strontium-90 to strontium titanate heat source pellets is described. Encapsulation of the fuel in Hastelloy C containers and necessary leak testing, decontamination and calorimetry procedures are covered. Loading of the SNAP 7B thermoelectric generator was accomplished. (auth)

UNC45B Reduction With Aging: A Myofiber‐Intrinsic Promoting Factor for Sarcopenia

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
Aging reduces Unc45b expression in fast‐twitch muscle, concomitant with reduction in muscle contractile capacity and muscle mass in mice. Unc45b deficiency initially reduces depolarization‐induced force, followed by a decline in fast‐twitch muscle mass in adult mice.

Quarterly report on the strontium heat source development program and the beneficial isotopes utilization program, Division of Nuclear Research and Application for October--December 1976. [WESF capsules]

open access: yes, 1977
At Hanford, strontium is separated from the high-level waste, converted to the fluoride, and doubly encapsulated in small, high-integrity containers for subsequent long-term storage.

Combination Therapy With AOPT Intense Pulsed Light (Dual‐Band Vascular Filter) and 1064 nm Nd:YAG Laser for Solitary, Superficial Infantile Hemangioma: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of a sequential protocol for treating solitary, superficial infantile hemangioma (IH). The protocol combined an Advanced Optimal Pulse Technology (AOPT) intense pulsed light system, which was equipped with a novel dual‐band vascular filter, with a subsequent long‐pulsed 1064 nm Nd:YAG ...

Soil to plant transfer of radionuclides: Predicting the fate of multiple radioisotopes in plants

open access: yes, 2014
Predicting soil-to-plant transfer of radionuclides is restricted by the range of species for which concentration ratios (CRs) have been measured. Here the radioecological utility of meta-analyses of phylogenetic effects on alkali earth metals will be ...
