Structure and Mechanical Properties of Plastics

1956
The characteristic structural feature of polymeric systems which leads to their remarkable mechanical properties is the existence of long chain molecules endowed with Brownian movement. The thermal motion may be thought of as translation of molecular segments with rotation around chain bonds. The translations and rotations of individual segments within

Mechanical and Structural Properties of Polydiacetylenes

1985
The relationship between structure and mechanical properties in polydiacetylene single crystals has been reviewed. It is demonstrated that the ability to produce the crystals with a high degree of perfection has allowed a detailed correlation to be made between their structure and mechanical behaviour.

Structure and Mechanical Properties of Nacre

2016
Many biological organisms exhibit unique chemical and physical properties (Lowenstam and Werner, On Biomineralization. Oxford University Press, New York, 1989). They often use components that contain both inorganic and organic compounds with complex structures, and are often hierarchically organized, ranging from nano- to meso-levels.
